Children and Youth Behavioral Health Initiative (CYBHI) Logo

CYBHI stands for California Youth Behavioral Health Initiative - a statewide effort to make mental and behavioral health services more accessible for children and youth, including those in schools. Avoid driving to a location or paying deductible, get your child services right at school.

In the Budget Act of 2021, California launched the Children and Youth Behavioral Initiative (CYBHI). This program focuses on enhancing the physical and behavioral well-being of all students by increasing intervention and prevention services at school, where students spend a majority of their time.

This law requires school districts to partner with health service providers, including Medi-Cal and private insurance, to support social and emotional health services for students. As a result, districts can now receive reimbursement for physical and behavioral health services provided to students during the school day.
